المستخلص: Supplications constitute essence of worship. They represent the utmost expression of humility and survitude on the part of the believer and his total surrender to his Lord with unqualified reliance on His support in all matters. A number of Quranic verses and oral statements of the Prophet (SAWS) not only underline the importance of supplication in the believer's relation to his Lord, but also identify certain specific places and occasions that hold greater prospects for their acceptance. The writer has provided a comprehensive survey of these places and occassions. He has also brought into focus the city of Makkah and the other sacred places in its vicinity, showing their importance in this respect.
