المستخلص: The writer shows a glimpse of the poetical genius of this great Spanish poet of the second and third century Hijrah. He provides a detailed introductory survey of his poems, lyrics in particular, to demonstrate the profound literary sensitivity and exceptional skills of poetic expression that characterize him. Yet, the writer notes with surprise, the place which such a gifted poet should have occupied in the literary annals has been almost denied to him. Apart from the literary achievements of Yahy b. al-Ghaz l, which the writer profusely illustrates in this paper with his own explanatory comments, he shows the highlights of this poet's career in the Andalusian royal court in which he occupied a high place of honour.
