المستخلص: The special significance of the skillful use of rhyme in the art of Arabic poetry is an acknowledged fact. The present study investigates this feature in the entire poetic production of al-Farazdaq. This phenomenon is quite remarkable in his poetry, whether it relates to his full adherence to the traditional system of rhyme, concerning the letters before or after al-rawiyy (main rhyming letter), or to the repetition of monorhymes in the same poem or different ones throughout his d v n, or to that of rhyme defects. The reason why this study has been devoted to the phenomenon of rhyme in al-Farazdq's poetry lies in the fact that it is not a mere feature that relates to the external rhythm only, but also because it represents a particular poetic artistry that shows al-Farazdaq's tendency to escape the restrictions of both rhetoricians and linguists that had been imposed on poets by literary conventions.
