المستخلص: Abrogation (naskh) is an important, broad and complex topic for study in the field of Qur'nic studies. It has been an integral past of the tafsr literature and has generated long debates among the scholars of the Qur'n. In this article, importance, rationale, methodology and difficulties have been explained with regard to this doctrine. This study is divided into three parts: First part is related to the definitions of Abrogation including its linguistic connotations. In the second part, the causes of expanded application of this doctrine are explained, and twelve causes have been identified. In the end, conclusions of the paper are presented in the form of summary
