المستخلص: Im m M lik is distinguished among all the jurists of Islam for his foremost reliance on the prevailing practice of Mad nah to interpret and evaluate ad th reports. At the same time, he is conspicuous for an integrated approach to ad th which is treated by him in the context of its legal implications. This perspective ipso facto led him to consider the practice of Orthodox Caliphs, giving it highest priority in determining the legal inferences from ad th.
