المستخلص: Imam al-Zarkashi is a prominent figure in the Islamic scholarship of the eighth century AH. In a rather short span of life, he produced rich intellectual legacy which covers many areas of Islamic scholarship and Arabic language studies. Although he is known to scholars by his significant contributions in jurisprudence more than any other area, this study attempts to shed light on other areas in which his contribution is not negligible. In hadith sciences alone he devoted sixteen works. This paper introduces al-Zarkashi's works on sciences of hadith to demonstrate their relevance and academic value. The findings of the paper can be summarized as follows: the contribution of al-Zarkashi is seen in the interest he showed in studying sciences of hadith. He added thirteen new subjects in the field to the ones introduced by Ibn Salah in his work al-Muqaddimah. In al-Zarkashi’s works, many views, analyses and critiques are considered original in both style of presentation and application. His contribution lies not only in his personal views and analyses, but also in the way he used the available sources of his time. In fact, his writings helped to keep and transmit views and opinions of many scholars that might have been lost but for his works.
