المستخلص: Short story is a genre of fiction which deals thematically with the society and reflects its worries and concerns. Stories are the most widely read genre of literature. Because they reveal real picture of society and help to understand prevalent issues. Qasmi from Pakistan and Al-Badavi from Egypt are the kind of writers who are silent leaders or guiding stars in their societies. Keeping in view the significance of short stories and the fact that not much work has been done on comparison between literatures of Arabic and Urdu language, the writer has attempted this paper on the subject. Both of these writers depict village life and mostly portray the socio-cultural concerns of the peasants. Badavi belongs to Upper Egypt, whereas Qasmi belongs to Soon Valley of District Khushab in Pakistan. Their stories and characters are deeply embedded in their respective cultural backgrounds. One object of this study is to explore common threads in the rural life of Egypt and Pakistan in an era marked with great Socio-political upheavals. The effort of the writer has centered upon highlighting the important facets of the rural life of Egypt and Pakistan in order to discern the traits of human psychology and its effects upon the literature produced.
