أن المدينة لها أهمية كبيرة لأنها مكان تجمع للسكان فضلا عن ذلك نجد أن المدن تتغير بسرعة نتيجة الزيادة الطبيعية للسكان وحركة الهجرة من الريف إلى المدينة وحسب بيانات الإحصائيات السكانية التي أجريت خلال فترة الدراسة نجد، أن هناك زيادة كبيرة عن المعدل الطبيعي في النمو السكاني نتيجة الهجرة القسرية ضد سكان المناطق الريفية الذي إتبعها الحكومات العراقية السابقة منذ ستينيات القرن إلى تسعينيات المنصرم، وبالتالي إن الزيادة في عدد سكان المدينة أثرت على مورفولوجية المدينة والتوسع المساحي وزيادة ربط المدينة بإقليم المدينة تقديم الخدمات والسلع. أهمية هذه الدراسة تكمن من خلال البحث عن إتجاهات النمو السكاني الذي كانت نتيجة الزيادة الطبيعية والهجرة القسرية مما أثر بشكل كبير على النمو السكاني في المدينة مع بيان أهمية العوامل التي أثرت على الزيادة السكانية في المدينة. أما هدف الدراسة الذي يتلخص في إيجاد أفضل الطرق في لمعالجة الزيادة السكانية السريعة في تقديم وتعزيز خدمات البنية التحتية، فضلا عن تصمیم وتطوير وتقديم توصيات التخطيط الآني والمستقبلي للمدينة. أما بالنسبة لمحتوى الدراسة والذي تكون من مبحثين: المبحث الأول يتناول هذا المبحث الزيادة الطبيعية في مدينة رانية وينقسم إلى محورين: المحور الأول: يسلط الضوء على الولادات في مدينة رانية. المحور الثاني خصصی لدراسة الوفيات في مدينة رانية وأما المبحث الثاني الذي يبحث عند موضوع الهجرة في مدينة رانية فأنقسم كذلك إلى محورين: المحور الأول، يدرس الهجرة الداخلية في مدينة رانية، أما المحور الثاني والأخير فيهتم بموضوع الهجرة الدولية هذا بالإضافة إلى النتائج والتوصيات.

The aim of the study is to find the best ways to address the rapid population increase in the provision and enhancement of infrastructure services, as well as to design, develop and present recommendations for the city's immediate and future planning As for the content of the study, which consists of two axes, the first axis includes the study of the natural growth of the population, which includes two subjects dealing with the first section cases of natural increase births in the city of Rania, the second axis includes migration in the city of Rania, which consists of two sections, which includes the stages of migration from the countryside to the city in addition To the forced migration towards the city of Rania, and the second section includes the migration of the population of the city of Rania to various countries of the world.
