Background: Urinary tract infection (UTI) is the most common bacterial infection in humans. They account for more 8.6 million physician visits (84% by women) and over 1 million hospital admissions in the United States each year. Aim of the study: Evaluation of UTI in Pregnant Woman in Omdurman Maternity Hospital. UTIs are common complication of pregnancy and may lead to significant morbidity for both mother and fetus. During pregnancy, asymptomatic bacteruria is the major risk factor for developing a symptomatic UTI. Methods: A prospective study has been conducted at Omdurman Maternity Hospital Antenatal Care Clinic in March 2016, to investigate urinary tract infection and the most antibiotics used among pregnant women. Result: Out of 100 pregnant women the prevalence of bacteriuria among symptomatic and asymptomatic pregnant women were (75%), and (25%) respectively. different factor; age, gestational age, and history of UTI in pregnancy were associated with bacteriuria. Conclusion: The incidence of UTI in pregnancy including the pathogenesis, etiology, complications, diagnosis and treatment. The review also covers the preventive measures that can be employed by pregnant women to prevent the development and reoccurrence of UTI.
