المستخلص: Background: The aim of study is to increase the awareness among pharmacists about the seriousness of dispensing Irritable Bowel Syndrome medications without medical prescription. Objectives: To evaluate the Pharmacist's attitude toward dispensing Irritable Bowel Syndrome Medication without doctor prescription in Khartoum state-Sudan, assess the dispensing of IBS medications as prescription only medicine, to evaluate the reasons for dispensing these medications without a medical prescription and to assess the Knowledge of the pharmacists about the regulation in dispensing of these drugs. Methods: A descriptive cross sectional private and governmental pharmacies based study. The data collection tool was questionnaire which administered to participants. Inclusion criteria: Sudanese pharmacists of both sexes who had permanent registration. Results: The majority of participants in this research were females. In this survey about majority of respondents were know about side effects of Irritable Bowel Syndrome medication over dose .In this survey also concluded that majority of respondents were disagree of dispensing Irritable Bowel Syndrome medication without medical prescription. The significant correlation was found between years of working in community pharmacy after graduation and their opinion in dispensing Irritable Bowel Syndrome medication. Also found that a significant p value found between academic level degree of pharmacists and agreement of dispensing Irritable Bowel Syndrome medication. In this survey found that (56%) they have no reasons for dispensing. The majority of gender patients who requesting this drugs which observed by pharmacists were male.
