اللغة العبرية هي لغة سامية من مجموعة اللغات الشمالية الغربية من الفرع الكنعاني، وقد أخذت هذه اللغة العديد من الأسماء فهي لغة كنعان، واللغة اليهودية، واللغة المقدسة، لكن أشهر الأسماء لها اللغة العبرية. وحاليًا تنتشر اللغة العبرية الحديثة كلغة الحديث والأدب والتعاملات الرسمية، أما اللغة العبرية الكلاسيكية (القديمة) فإنها تستخدم كلغة دينية يستعملها اليهود في معاملاتهم الدينية.
