المستخلص: لجأت المؤلفات الحديثة إلى استغلال تقنية التعبير بالصورة التي منحها إياها تطور وسائل الطباعة، وفرضها تنامي الوعي بقيمة العتبات النصية وأهمية استعمال التقنيات الحديثة في التواصل والتعبير، فهي " ليست زخرفاً تزينياً، بل تشتغل بكيفية دالة ووظيفية، مهما كان نمط كينونتها؛ أي سواء كانت رسماً بيانياً أو صورة أو استعارة تحمل الأيقونة إذن خطاباً حول النص، وحول العالم أيضاً، كما تتكامل مع عتبات الغلاف الأخرى، وتدعمها في إثارة القارئ المستهدف، وجذب انتباهه، وتعمل – في الوقت نفسه - على جره إلى الأسئلة التي تطرحها كخطوة أولى في طريق دفعه إلى اقتناء الكتاب خلافاً للعنوان واسم المؤلف اللذين يعتبران عتبات ثابتة، مرتبطة بالنص وملتصقة به، بهما يعرف ومن خلالهما يميز عن غيره من النصوص، فالأيقونة لا ترتبط ارتباطاً عضوياً بالنص؛ إذ من الممكن أن تغيب كلياً، أو أن تتغير أو تستبدل من طبعة إلى أخرى، حسب خيارات دار النشر، دون أن يتأثر النص بذلك. وهو ما نهدف إلى مقاربته عبر هذه الدراسة.

Unlike the title, artist name, which are fixed paths, linked to text fields and which distinguish it from other texts, imagery is not organically linked to the text; it could totally be absent, change or replace the edition to another, according to the publishing house, without options to be affected by the text.
