إذا كانت الذات عند لاكان لابد وأن تتخذ موضعة - بنية إكلينيكية - ما في مواجهة نقص الرغبة ومتعة الآخر، فإنه في الإدمان يتم إسقاط الدال الأبوي وتصبح الذات هي الجسم في إسكيما المرايا (O-O)، ومن ثم فإن الذات المدمنة تدير المتعة في علاقتها (التي هي محاولة للتفادي) بالآخر من خلال ميكانيزم الإبدال، حيث يتخذ العقار مكان الوكيل (الوسيط) الذي يحجب استحضار الذات لدال آخر وذلك بأن يمتص الدال الرئيسي (a- s1) في محاولته لوضع الموضوع (العقار) ومثالية الأنا في نفس المكان، كما يخفـى الإحساس بالقدرة المطلقة - الناتج عن التخدير- العلاقة بالاستحالة (أو نقص الرغبة)، تاركا الذات في وهم إمكانية تحقيق الهارمونية الكاملة بين هذا الوسيط والآخر وميكانيزم الاستقلال عن الآخر الأكبر الذى يشير إلى اقتحام الرباط الاجتماعي وفصل الذات عنه، مما يؤدى إلى نبذ الذات نتيجة الاعتمادية على قانون الأم الذى يغمر الذات بالسموم عندما لا يرمز شيء متعلق بالجسم وهذا ما يعطى للإدمان خصوصيته السيكوباثولوجية. وبذلك يعد الإدمان بما هو عرضا جديدا مجرد اغتراب في البعد النرجسي الذي يشار إليه بكسر الرابطة مع الرمزي.
If the subject in Lacan should have a position - clinical structure -facing the lack of desire and other’s jouissance , it is through addiction that the paternal metaphor can be foreclosed and the subject becomes the body in the mirror schema (-o) and hence the addicted subject manages jouissance in its relation (which is an attempt to avoid) with the other through: the substitution mechanism where the drug takes the place of the agent (the mediator) which bars the subject’s representation of another signifier by absorbing the master signifier (a - s1) in an attempt to place the drug and the ego-ideal in the same place, the omnipotent sense resulting from the toximania also hides the impossibility relation (or lack of desire) leaving the subject in the illusion of the possibility of achieving full harmony between this agent and the other, on the one hand, and the mechanism of independence of the big Other which refers to the break of the social bond and the separation of the subject which leads to the rejection of the subject as a result of the dependence on the law of the mother which immerses the subject with toxics when nothing that is related to the body is symbolized that gives to addiction its psychopathological privacy, and hence where addiction is considered as a new symptom it is, in fact, an alienation in the narcissistic dimension which is referred to by the break with the symbolic.
