يمثل الدين أحد أهم العوامل الرئيسة التي ساعدت في بناء ونشأة واستمرار وتقدم الحضارة الإنسانية من خلال الدور الإيجابي الذي يؤديه في عمليات التغير الاجتماعي والتكامل القومي، والاستقرار السياسي. وتترسخ أهميته في ظل ما يقوم به من دور رئيسي في صياغة حياة الإنسان، وسلوكياته، ومعاملاته، وأخلاقياته، بحيث يتحقق للمجتمع وحدته من خلال ما يقتنيه أفراده من قيم وعقائد وغايات عامة، يساعد تكاملها في استقرار المجتمع كنسق متكامل يدعمه التضامن الاجتماعي، ونشر الأمن، وضبط السلوك بالشكل الذي يضمن استقرار النظم القائمة داخل هذا المجتمع. لذا، فالعلاقة بين الدين والمتغيرات الاجتماعية والسياسية تختلف من مجتمع إلى آخر، ومن مرحلة تاريخية إلى أخرى داخل نفس المجتمع، وذلك تبعاً لموقف الدين والتمسك بتعاليمه؛ واستنادا لخصوصيته داخل المجتمع. وقد نجد أن العقيدتين الإسلامية والمسيحية يوجد بينهما نقاط تشابه قد تكون أن هي مصدر التوتر، لأن العالم الغربي يتردد في تصنيفنا كعقيدة مستقلة لها رؤيتها المستقلة في الكون ترفض التجسد والكهنوت والطقوس الكثيرة والتطرف في الغيبة واللاعقلانية فهم يصفون الإسلام بأنه مجرد هرطقة مسيحية وانحراف عن الجوهر المسيحي ونحن نفعل الشيء نفسه، حيث نرى الإنجيل كتاب مقدس محرف أفسده المسيحيون وقد نرجع ذلك إلى أن الرقعة الدينية تباعد بين العالم الإسلامي والغرب إذ يجعله يتوقع منا أن نكون نسخة حرفية منه، وعليه التعرف على منهجية دراسة العامل الديني في أدبيات العلاقات الدولية، وكذلك المنظور التاريخي للعامل الديني في المجتمع الأمريكي الذي يعتبر محور الدراسة والتحليل والبحث.
Religion is one of teh most important key factors that helped in teh construction, emergence and continuous progress of human civilization through teh positive role in which do upon teh processes of social changes, national integration, and political stability. And its importance is completely shown and settled obviously in teh major role of teh formulation of human life, and behaviors, and transactions, and so ethics, so as to achieve teh community 's unity through what is owned by its members' values , beliefs and goals in general, which helps its integration in stability of teh society as a coordinated integration supported by social solidarity, and teh dissemination of security , and adjust behavior that will ensure teh stability of existing systems wifin dis community. Therefore, teh relationship between religious, social and political variables vary from one community to another and so from a historical stage to another wifin teh same community, depending on teh state and adherence of religion; and according to its privacy wifin dis community. We may find that according to some similarity points between teh Islamic and Christian tenets so may be it be teh source of tension, coz teh Western world hesitates to rate our religion as an independent belief which has its own vision of teh universe rejects teh Incarnation , priesthood ,many rituals , extremism in backbiting and irrationality understands , so they merely describe Islam as a Christian heresy and deviation from teh essence of teh Christian plot , and we do teh same thing, where we see teh Bible was interpolated by teh Christians and all that coz of teh individual religious understanding which makes it is so far understanding between teh Islamic world and teh West as they expects us to be a verbatim transcript of it, and then it is possible to figure out teh methodology of teh study of teh religious factor regarding teh literature issues of international relations, as well as a historical perspective of teh religious factor in American society, which is teh focus of teh study, analysis and so research..
