المستخلص: We have applied ourselves to writing this research due to our feelings of its great significance within the field of the semantic study. It addressees a subject within one of the semantic theories presented by the Arabic dictionary in the best of manners whilst the books of the classical Arabic scholars were inundated with it. However, they did not name it by what the westerners named it i.e. not in the form which the students of semantics in the modern period intended for it. That theory is the theory of semantic fields and this theory, fundamentally, relies upon the context presented by the English semantic school and its pioneer Firth. The research addressed a linguistic root, through study and detail, in which error and ambiguity had spread. It may be that the challenge and response were important causes for the pursuance of some of the details and especially the research in respect to the linguistic differences and the usage of those words. The linguistic root provides the central meaning for the Arabic matter, which is the subject of the research, the subject of the research, in which root from among the Arabic roots, regardless of what happened to the worded expressions in terms of the structure having been added to. This addition to the structure remains preserved upon the primary central meaning and the dictionary meaning is applied upon it and in the science of semantics it is called social semantics or meaning. That is because whenever a root is derived from, new meanings are provided, which have a connection to the daily circulation of the expression. This is what our research has uncovered in respect to the root (ع, ر, ض). It is hoped that the research will be beneficial and that we have fulfilled it satisfactorily.

هذا بحث دأبنا على كتابته لشعورنا بأهميته في مجال الدرس الدلالي، يتناول موضوعا في واحدة من النظريات الدلالية قدمها المعجم العربي أفضل تقديم، وعجت بها كتب علماء اللغة العربية الأقدمين، ولكنهم لم يسموها كما أسماها الغربيون-أي ليس على الصورة التي أراد لها دارسو الدلالة في العصر الحديث-تلك النظرية هي نظرية الحقول الدلالية، تعتمد هذه النظرية في أساسه على السياق الذي قدمته المدرسة الإنجليزية في الدلالة، ورائدها فيرث. تناول البحث بالدرس والتفصيل جذرا لغويا شاع فيه الخطأ والخلط، ولعل التحدي والاستجابة كانا من الدواعي المهمة في متابعة بعض التفاصيل، ولا سيما البحث في الفروق اللغوية واستعمال تلك المفردات. يقدم الجذر اللغوي المعنى المحوري للمادة اللغوية موضوع البحث في أي جذر من جذور العربية، بصرف النظر عما يطرأ على الألفاظ من زيادة في المبني، وهذه الزيادة في المبني تبقى محافظة على المعنى المركزي (المحوري) الأول ويطلق عليه المعنى المعجمي وفي علم الدلالة يطلق عليه الدلالة الاجتماعية، وحينما يتشقق الجذر يعطي معان جديدة، مما أه صلة بالتداول اليومي للفظة، هذا ما كشف عنه بحثنا في الجذر (ع، ر، ض). عسى أن يكون البحث نافعا، وأن نكون قد وفقنا به.
