Egypt has played an important role in linking Africa with Asia and the Mediterranean Sea to the Indian Ocean, through the excellence of its geographical location. This is next to its exclusivity of the ancient Egyptian civilization and to some modem additions such as museums and bazaars. This history and achievements stand side by side with modem Egypt, which contains number of cultural activities ranging from arts, music and theater, to a novelty kind of delicate arts represented in opera art. Khedive Ismail was keen to modernize Egypt and to introduce the western culture to the Egyptian society, so he created the Khedivial Opera House in 1869, which had achieved wide fame during its existence. The article discusses the history of the Khedivial Opera House in its first season. It was the first Egyptian opera house in Africa and the Middle East, where it had its own position among the world, and because of his interest in arts and his passion for it, the house was named "The Khedival opera" which brought a new kind of art that it wasn’t familiar among the Egyptians.
