لاشك أن ولادة النص الأدبي تعني ولادة إبداعات شتى وجديدة من النقاد والقراء، إذ أن القارئ مبدع بحد ذاته، وإن الناقد مبدع أخر برؤيته النقدية عندما يغوص في النص ويفك مغاليقه يمثل شعر (ابن شكيل) تجربة شعرية تستحق الدراسة، وهي ذات اثر مهم وفاعل في عصري المرابطين والموحدين، فهناك ملامح خاصة ومتفردة (أسلوبية) تمتع بها نصه الشعري، وهذا ما يفتح المجال واسعا لدراسة نص مشبع بالدلالات المتعددة والجماليات الفردية التي تأسر لب القارئ وتزيده إمتاعا، ولكون الدراسة الأسلوبية تهدف إلى كشف الملامح المهيمنة والقارة وذات الأثر المميز؛ لذا فنحن غير ملزمين بدراسة أو استقصاء كل نتاجه الشعري، بل نماذج مختارة من شعره مع قلة الدراسات التي تناولت شعر (ابن شكيل) وقد اعتمد الباحث في دراسته على جانبين: جانب نظري، تناول فيه نبذة مختصرة عن حياة الشاعر بالقدر الذي يخدم موضوع الدراسة، وجانب من ثقافته والعوامل التي أثرت في كتابة شعره وتطرق الباحث إلى مفهوم الأسلوبية ومناهجها وعلاقتها باللغة، أما الجانب التطبيقي من الدراسة، فقد اعتمد الباحث على الجانب المنهج الأسلوبي والذي يتخذ من اللغة أساسا للدراسة الفنية، بوصفها الأداة التي يستعملها المبدع في تشكيل مادته الفنية، متتبعين الظواهر اللغوية التي تألفت منها كل قصيدة وأبياتها بالتحليل على مستويات اللغة من الناحية التركيبية والصوتية والفنون البلاغية والأساليب الإنشائية والتشكيلات الموسيقية والإيقاعية وغيرها ومدى انسجامها مع أبيات القصيدة.
