يشتمل ديوان المتنبي على موضوعات متنوعة تمظهرت عبر مديات تعبر عن مواقف وهواجس خاصة بين الأنا والآخر والكون، محملة برؤيا تشف عن حس ذوقي وحكمي عالي، وقد تشكلت موضوعاته في نسيج تجلت فيه مقدرته الشعرية الكبيرة بصفتها الفريدة التي عرف بها، ومنه الذي تموضع في إبداع خاص عبر صوره ومعانيه ومبناه اللغوي التركيبي الذي تجسد في مسارات انفعالية تمثلت هواجسه وأفكاره، فبحث المتنبي في آفاق شملت الأنا ومخيالها والواقع وأبعاده، ويكتنف هذين المظهرين سمات تبدت في شمولية نظرته ومبنى تجليها نصيا، للتعريف بما يكتنفه من وعي وعواطف وصلات، إذ استثمر القص والصورة وأساليب اللغة وخياله الشعري في مدى تمثل مقاربة شعرية يشتغل فيها نصه على كشف ذاته ودواخلها، وما يخبئه فكرة وما تختزنه ذاكرته من مواقف وأحداث، بصياغته لعديد من الموضوعات التي ترسمت حياته وما يحيط بها من مظاهر. وكان الزمان والمكان حدين يصور فيهما مكنونات موضوعه عبر نسق خاص تفرد به المتنبي كما كان للون حضور مميز في ديوانه بوصفه ثيمة تتمظهر فيها تجليات تضم مواقفا وآثارا وهواجسا تقبع في المضمر العميق لذاته، إذ كان استحضارها بالكيفية التي وردت بها تنظيما واعيا يلتقطه جسرا للعبور إلى كلية التجربة المراد تنصيصها شعريا.
Divan Al-Mutanabi includes various subjects that have been expressed in different ways, expressing special attitudes and concerns between the ego, other and the universe. Loaded with a vision that radiates a high sense of taste and judgment. His themes were formed in a fabric that showed his great poetic ability as his unique, through his image, meanings and linguistic structure, which is embodied in the emotional paths of his concerns and ideas. Al-Mutanabi explored the horizons of the ego and its imagination and reality and its dimensions. These two aspects are characterized by features in the comprehensiveness of his vision and the structure of the textual manifestation, to define his awareness, emotions, and links. The image and methods of language and poetic imagination in the range represents a poetic approach in which the text works to reveal itself and its introspection, and what is contained in his thought and stored by his memory of positions and events, in the formulation of many of the themes that characterize his life and the surrounding aspects. The time and place were two extremes, he depicted the objects of his subject in a special form unique to al-Mutanabbi, and the color had a distinctive presence in his divan as a theme in which manifestations of positions, effects, and obsessions were contained in the deeply self-contained, as it was evoked by the manner in which it received a conscious organization. That was picked up by a bridge to cross to the college of experience to be quipped poetically.
