تناول الباحث أبرز التحديات التي تواجه تطبيق الجودة والاعتماد بمؤسسات التعليم العالي ومنها التقدم العلمي، التكنولوجي، والثورة المعرفية، والتغيرات الاقتصادية والمنافسة العالمية، والتغيير في متطلبات سوق العمل، وأن هذه التحديات تفرض على مؤسسات التعليم الجامعي إعادة النظر في استراتيجيات وطرق التعامل مع هذه التحديات لإعداد خريجيها بصورة متكاملة تتلاءم مع هذه التحديات بأنواعها المختلفة. فالتغيرات والتطورات الاقتصادية والمنافسة العالمية تفرض على مؤسسات التعليم العالي الإعداد المتميز للمبدعين والخبراء والعلماء في شتى المجالات من خلال التجديد والتحديث للبرامج والمناهج والاحتياجات الأكاديمية حتى يمتلك خريج التعليم العالي أدواراً جديدة للتخطيط والقدرة على العمل في مجموعات، وتحديد الامكانات المتاحة والأهداف المراد تحقيقها، واختيار البدائل والاستراتيجيات المناسبة للتعامل مع المواقف الطارئة، والمشاركة في التخطيط والتدريب. وأن التعليم العالي نتيجة الإقبال المتزايد عليه يعاني من عدم التوازن فعدد المتقدمين لمؤسساته يفوق القدرة الاستيعابية لهذه المؤسسات مما يفرض على بعض الكليات استخدام أساليب تقليدية في عملية التعليم كالمحضرة والتلقين، والضعف في وجود حوار ديموقراطي بناء بين الطلاب وأعضاء هيئة التدريس، إلا أن الثورة المعرفية الحادثة التكنولوجيا والاتصالات تشجع على استخدام أنماط وأساليب جديدة للتعليم تتيح للطلاب فرصة الحصول على تعليم ينمي الإبداع والابتكار لديهم. وعلى مؤسسات التعليم العالي إحداث التوازن والملائمة بين عدد خريجيها واحتياجات سوق العمل من التخصصات العلمية والأكاديمية لربط مؤسسات التعليم العالي بالمؤسسات الانتاجية ومتطلبات سوق العمل لإبراز التنسيق الحقيقي ما بين مؤسسات الإعداد والجهات المعنية من الوزارات والهيئات مما يحقق التكامل بين العرض والطلب ومتطلبات سوق العمل واحتياجاته. وأخيرا من الضروري تفعيل، دور مؤسسات التعليم العالي، وتطوير بنية مؤسساته المختلفة للنهوض بالمجتمع المصري، والمشاركة في التطورات العلمية والتكنولوجية المعاصرة، ومن ثم الإسهام في البناء الحضاري الحالي بمساراته المختلفة، وتوفير نظام تعليمي يحقق الجودة، ويمنح الفرصة للحصول على الاعتماد الأكاديمي، وتبادل الخبرات التعليمية والتدريسية التي تلبي الاحتياجات الآتية والمستقبلية، وأن ترتبط استراتيجيات إدارة تكنولوجيا المعلومات ارتباطاً وثيقاً بكلا من التركيب الإداري واستراتيجيات التدريس والتعليم والتدريب بمؤسسات التعليم العالي والجهات والهيئات والوزارات المعنية.
