لقد أصبح إعمال النظريات النقدية الغربية الحديثة في الوسط النقدي العربي المعاصر ضرورة حتمية وملحة أملتها ظروف معينة وحساسيات جديدة حتمت على النقد أن يغير منطلقاته القديمة ويتجاوز تلك النظرة السلفوية الماضوية في قراءة الأعمال الأدبية وتحليلها. ولقد أثبتت الدراسات جدارة هذه النظريات النقدية وتفوقها في استنطاق النصوص الأدبية والكشف عن خباياها ومكنوناتها وإضاءة الكثير من جوانبها الغامضة. وفي هذا الإطار تحاول هذه الدراسة أن تسلط الضوء على اتجاه أثبت نجاعته التحليلية في مقاربة الخطابات والنصوص السردية، لاسيما ما يتعلق بالجانب الإجرائي التطبيقي، ويتعلق الأمر ههنا باتجاه السيميائية السردية الذي رسمه غريماس وأتباعه، والذي حظي باهتمام كبير من قبل الباحثين والدارسين في الخطاب النقدي المعاصر، بحيث سنسعى إلى مقاربة المفاهيم التنظيرية وتفحص الإجراءات التحليلية والتطبيقية لهذا الاتجاه، وبالتالي الوقوف على مستويات التحليل لديه. وكل ذلك سيتم من خلال التركيز على مستويين في البحث. كما حددها "غريماس" هما: مستوى البنية السطحية ومستوى البنية العميقة.
