المستخلص: One who is familiar with the history of the Algerian nation knows that the ancestor, who was forced by colonial circumstances during the 19th century to leave this country for Tunisia, Morocco, and Damascus, gave birth to a successor who made his presence in various fields of knowledge. Among these successors, I chose Sheikh Muhammad al-Makki ibn Azzouz, and this choice is dictated by the responsibility of our scholars who lived outside this country and died there. At the same time, the researchers are directed to paying attention to those who have left us significant treasures in many fields of knowledge. This article came to identify the stages of the life of the Sheikh from his birth until his death, and to list all his books, whether printed or manuscript, what we have reached and what is yet to be reached.

الواقف على تاريخ الأمّة الجزائريّة، يتحقّق من أنّ السّلف الّذي أجبرته الظّروف الاِستعماريّ خلال القرن التّاسع عشر إلى مغادرة هذا البلد إلى تونس والمغرب ودمشق، قد أنجب خلفا كان له حضور في شتّى ميادين المعرفة، ومن هذا الخلف اِخترت الشّيخ محمّد المكّي بن عزّوز، وهذا الاِختيار يمليه الواجب اِتّجاه علمائنا الّذين عاشوا خارج هذا البلد، وماتوا هناك، وفي الوقت نفسه توجيه الباحثين إلى الاِهتمام بهؤلاء الّذين خلّفوا لنا آثارا لا يستهان بها في ميادين معرفيّة كثيرة. ومقالي هذا جاء ليقف عند مراحل حياة الشّيخ منذ ولادته إلى وفاته، وليسرد آثاره جميعها سواء أكانت مطبوعة أم مخطوطة، ما وصلنا منها وما لم يصل.

Mohamed El-Mekki Ben Mustapha Ben Azzouz, ses œuvres imprégnées de l’Histoire de la nation algérienne se réalisent du fait que les ancêtres poussés par le joug du colonialisme, pendant le XIX e siècle, à quitter ce pays pour la Tunisie, le Maroc et Damas, a donné naissance à une génération dotée d’un savoir dans tous les domaines. Notre choix pour Cheikh Mohamed El-Mekki Ben Azzou, faisant partie de cette génération, est dicté par notre devoir à l’égard de nos savants qui ont vécu et sont morts hors de ce pays. Il s’agit, aussi, pour nous d’orienter les chercheurs vers ceux qui nous ont légués un riche patrimoine dans divers domaines du savoir.
Notre présent article se propose d’effectuer une biographie complète et exhaustive depuis la naissance du Cheikh jusqu’à sa mort, et de faire une anthologie aussi complète qu’elle soit, de ses œuvres publiées ou manuscrites.
