مع تزايد النزاعات الحديثة واشتداد حدتها يزيدا تعرض الأطفال للعديد من الانتهاكات بل والتي باتت تطالهم حتى في المناطق التي ليست مسرحا لتلك النزاعات، حيث تلجئ أطرافها إلي سلب الأطفال براءتهم، طفولتهم، حقوقهم، وتعرضهم إلي القتل والتشويه والاغتصاب والخطف والإتجار وصولا إلى أعتى هذه الانتهاكات بتجنيدهم وزجهم في ساحات القتال كجنود يؤدون دور مباشر في القتال وجنود يؤدون أدوار غير مباشرة فيه، متنوعين في أساليب تجنيدهم لتنقلهم الحداثة بفعل تكنولوجيا التواصل وأدواتها إلي اسهر الطرق للوصول إلي هؤلاء الأطفال، ويبرز في هذا الصدد دور القانون الدولي لوضع القواعد القانونية الدولية اللازمة حيث تضمنت شتي فروعه اتفاقيات ومعاهدات خاصة بحماية الأطفال تطرقت إلي حظر تجنيدهم أثناء النزاعات وفي السلم كذلك، ولم يقف الأمر عند ذلك بل حاول القانون الدولي مواكبه التطورات التي يشهدها المجتمع الدولي بفعل التكنولوجيا من أجل الوصول إلي حظر التجنيد الذي يتم من خلال ما وفرته من أدوات تكنولوجيه اتصالية حديثه حتي وأن كانت خطاه في هذا الطريق تسير ببطء مقارنة بتسارع التكنولوجيا.
