إن استراتيجية التناص مثلت إحدى استراتيجيات الكتابة الروائية عند واسيني الأعرج فلا يمكن للقارئ أن يفك شفرة النص إلا بالعودة إلى تلك النصوص السابقة والمعاصرة التي استلهمها وكان لها الأثر البالغ في خطابه ودلالاته، إذ تنوعت أغراض التناص من موقع إلى آخر، فمنه ما كان لغاية فنية جمالية، ومنه ما كان استجابة لاقتناع إيديولوجي فـ"رمل الماية"، وهي تنهض في متنها على خاصية التناص، فكان الخبر والتاريخ والأسطورة والموروث الشعبي والدين، وتناسلت في حوار إبداعي جعل "رمل الماية" جامع الأنواع.
