المستخلص: The Algerian economy, like other oil economies, is highly dependent on the hydrocarbon sector as a generator of foreign currency through export operations as well as a sector financed by the state treasury through its large revenues. However, this sector is characterized by instability because the prices of these materials are determined in the global market, Financial crises of the state whenever fuel prices drop. This is evidenced by the oil crisis in 1986 and the low oil prices in 2014 and 2015. The government should seek resources outside the hydrocarbon sector. The best way to secure this is to increase economic diversification by encouraging sectors that could be alternative sectors for the hydrocarbons sector and the most important sectors that have the potential to be alternatives to the hydrocarbons sector. In Algeria, the agriculture, industry, and tourism sector, for the great potential it has. Therefore, it is necessary to study the extent of economic diversification in Algeria, evaluate the various efforts that have been undertaken, and try to present ideas that can help activate the process of economic diversification in Algeria to create sustainable economic development outside the hydrocarbons sector.
