|a إن مشكلة الملوحة من المشكلات التي يعاني منها العراق، وبشكل خاص في منطقة السهل الرسوبي والذي تعد منطقة الدراسة جزءا منه، إذ تعد الملوحة تعد خطرا حقيقيا وعائقا يقف في وجه استمرارية الانتاج الزراعي في قضاء أبي الخصيب . تهدف الدراسة إلى توضيح أهم مؤشرات مخاطر تملح التربة في القضاء على الانتاج الزراعي فيه، ووضع معالجات سريعة وواقعية للحد من أثار هذة المشكلة، وقد تبين من خلال الدراسة أن هناك تقلصا وتدنيا واضحا في المساحات الزراعية والمزروعة فعلا، كذلك وجود تغير نسبي في التركيب المحصولي للمحاصيل الزراعية، وانخفاض في معدل غلة الدونم وفشل في زراعة فسائل النخيل مع تقلص واضح في أعداد المزروع منها وإنتاجيتها، كذلك أشار الباحث جملة من المعالجات التي يرى بأنها تساعد في حل هذه المشكلة في منطقة الدراسة
