جاء المنطق الحديث ليؤكد على أهمية الماصدق (وجود ما تصدق عليه الأشياء) بالنسبة للقضايا، متخذا من النظرة الماصدقية منطلقا له، وفي سبيله إلى هذا الأمر تعددت وتنوعت الاتجاهات التي تتناول معنى الأشياء لغويا ومنطقيا، وكيف يختلف المعنى طبقا لاختلاف اللفظ، وقد تناول عددا من المناطقة الحدود المنطقية بالشرح والتحليل، كان من بينهم (ناثان سالمون Nathan Salmon) (1951-...) الذي لم يفرق تفريقا دقيقا بين قطعية الحد العام والحد الفردي، انطلاقا من نزعته الجوهرية التي تؤكد تمتع الشيء بهوية أو كينونة واحدة حتى مع اختلاف العوالم وقد عرض في شرحه إلى فكرتين أساسيتين: موقفه مما قدمه (برتراند رسل Bertrand Russell) (1872-1970) في نظرية الأوصاف المحددة وموقفه من المشير Designatum أو المحدد القاطع الذي قدمه (سول كريبك Saul Kripke) (1940-...)، مؤكدا أهمية نظرية الإشارة الجديدة، خاصة في تناوله للحدود الفردية كأسماء الأعلام، ومعلقا على منطق الجهة من أجل إبراز فكرته الأساسية التي تدور حول معنى القضايا من خلال وجهة النظر الماصدقية والمفهومية.
