تنشأ الحرائق بسبب الإهمال في إتباع طرائق الوقاية السليمة، وتسبب خسائر كبيرة في الأرواح والأموال والمنشآت، ونظراً لتواجد كميات كبيرة من المواد القابلة للاشتغال في كل ما يحيط بنا وفي مختلف مواقع تواجدنا، لذا أصبح من الضروري دراسة الحرائق وما يتعلق بها من نتائج بيئية واجتماعية. يهدف البحث إلى بيان نمط التوزيع المكاني والزماني لحدوث الحرائق في مدينة الناصرية، فضلاً عن الأثار البيئية على نشوب الحرائق في مدينة الناصرية، وقياس كفاءة خدمات مديرية الدفاع المدني المقدمة للمواطنين. وتبين من خلال البحث تباين حوادث الحرائق في مدينة الناصرية للمدة (2015-20129 بحسب أشهر السنة، إذ سجل شهر آب بأكبر عدد تكرار حدوث الحرائق (122 حريقاً) لعام 2012 من المجموع الكلي (585 حريق)، وجاء شهر أيلول بـ(84 حريقاً) لنفس العام وتموز بـ(80 حريقاً)، بينما سجل أقل الأشهر كانون الثاني (19 حريق). وأظهرت علاقة ارتباط العناصر المناخية بحدوث حوادث الحرائق في مدينة الناصرية بوجود علاقة ارتباط طردية بين درجة الحرارة وحوادث نشوب الحرائق. بينما أظهرت علاقة عنصري الرطوبة والأمطار علاقة عكسية قوية مع تكرار حوادث الحرائق، أي كلما زادت رطوبة الجو قلت الحرائق ويتباين تكرار نشوب الحرائق مكانياً فضلاً عن سبب حدوثها، إذ سجلت مكانياً أعلى تكرار لحدوث الحرائق في حي (أور) بمجموع (26 حريقاً) وحل بالترتيب الثاني حيي (سومر، مدينة الصدر)، وهذا التباين ناجم عن متغيرات جغرافية متعددة.
