المستخلص: بدأت الحياة في سواكن وكان الإنسان حاضراً وفاعلاً ومساهماً في تشكيل التاريخ الأثري فما زالت الآثار والمواقع الأثرية الخالدة منتشرة في جميع أنحاء الجزيرة وحيث تشكل رمزاً للتواصل الحضاري الإنساني بدءاً بالفترة التركية والمهدية والحكم الثنائي. كل هذا التراث الأثري بشقية المادي والمعنوي يجعل الجزيرة قادرة على حمل التكليف التاريخي نهوضاً بالمجتمع من أجل استشراق المستقبل ونتيجة لتعرض هذا التراث الأثري للخراب والدمار الكثيف بفعل الأنشطة البشرية والطبيعية التي أدت إلى طمس وتشويه الكثير من معالمه وموارده الإثارية. كان لابد من وضع الاستراتيجيات والخطط والبرامج وفق منهجية علمية حديثة تعمل على حمايته والحفاظ عليه. على الرغم من الدور الذي تلعبه إدارة التراث في سواكن إلا أنها تواجه الكثير من المشاكل حيث لا تجد الاهتمام المناسب من قبل السلطات للمحافظة عليها، وكذلك لم تجد الدراسات العلمية الكافية للتعرف على الآثار في جزيرة سواكن اقله الدراسات العلمية، وأيضا نجد أن الاهتمام بالآثار يقل كلما خرجنا من شمال السودان. السودان يعد من أوائل دول العالم الموقعة على اتفاقية حماية التراث الثقافي والطبيعي العالميين وفي تطور إيجابي لاحق وفي مطلع القرن الحادي والعشرون تم ولأول مرة في التاريخ الثقافي السوداني تسجيل خمسة مواقع في قائمة التراث الثقافي العالمية (اليونسكو) والتي تضم جبل البركل، نوري، الكرو، صنم أبو دوم، الزومة. تسعى هذه الورقة إلى التعرف على إدارة التراث الثقافي في السودان بالتركيز على جزيرة سواكن وإبراز أهميته التاريخية، الفنية، المعرفية، الاقتصادية، والعمل علي عرضه والحفاظ عليه قسمت الورقة إلى تعريف التراث الثقافي بالإضافة إلي أخذ نماذج من دول العالم لها تجربة في الحفاظ على تراثها الثقافي، وخلفية تاريخية وجغرافية عن جزيرة سواكن وأخيراً واقع ومستقبل هذه الجزيرة

The remains and timeless archaeological sites are still scattered all over the island and constitute a symbol of human culture communication beginning with the Turkish period ,and mahdia periods and bilateral governances, all this archaeological heritage materially and morally makes the island able to carry the historical mandate of the rise of society to orient the future and as a result of the exposure of this archaeological heritage of destruction and destruction of caused by heavy human and natural activities , which led to the blur and the settlement of many of the convention and its archaeological resource . It was ne develop strategies, plans and programs according to a modern scientific methodology working to protect and maintain it. Despite the role played by the heritage department in suakin m it faces a lot of problems where it does not find the appropriate attention by the authorities to maintain them and also did not find enough scientific studies to identify the effects on the island less scientific studies and also find that interest in the effects decreases as we emerge from the north Sudan. Sudan is one of the first countries in the world to sign the convention for the protection of the world cultural and natural heritage and in a later positive development, at the beginning of the 21st century, for the first time in Sudanese cultural history, five site were registered in the UNESCO world heritage list which includes mount barkal ,nouri , kroo, fetish Abu Doom, al zooma. This paper seeks to identify the management of cultural heritage in Sudan by focusing on the island of suakin and highlighting its historical importance, professional and economical and work on presenting and maintaining it This paper is divided into a definition of culture heritage as well as taking models from countries of the world have experience in preserving their management heritage or cultural resources and historical and geographical background on the island of suakin and finally the reality and future for this mansion.
