The study aimed to deal with the principle of commitment in the contemporary Islamic poetry, in the views of those who call for this commitment and views of commitment theorists. This was done through presenting, analyzing and criticizing, in order to come to findings that could guide the people who follow this theory to what is good to serve literature as possible. The study has concluded many findings, the most important are: The term Islamic Literature has recently appeared as a result of an Islamic revival. However, the Islamic poets had exaggerated in understanding the issue of commitment in the Islamic poetry. They thought that using indirect expression affects their religious conviction. Therefore, their commitment came restricted to Islamic issues and Muslims but not any other issues. Most of the Islamic poetry came in a direct style. It pays attention to the content of poetry and ignores its form and choice of words. The Islamic poetry topics are all about call for Islam and guidance, presenting the issues concerning the Islamic nation and regretting its past glories. This in addition to calling for "Jihad" and spread of hatefulness for westerners and Jewish. This poetry has -completely or – almost - no flirtation purpose and description for nature. Also, there are no wonderful inspiring pictures. In summary, the contemporary Islamic poetry does not raise to the level that the theorists of Islamic literature call for, saying that the Islamic poetry is characterized by preciosity, deadlock, and tardiness.
هدفت الدراسة إلى تناول مبدأ الالتزام في الشعر الإسلامي المعاصر- وفق آراء دعاة هذا الاتجاه ومنظريه- عرضاً وتحليلاً ونقداً بغية الوصول إلى نتائج توجه أصحاب هذه النظرية إلى ما فيه صلاح الأدب ما أمكن. خلصت الدراسة إلى عدة نتائج أهمها: ظهر مصطلح الأدب الإسلامي في الآونة الأخيرة في إطار صحوة إسلامية، إلا أن الشعراء الإسلاميين المعاصرين غالوا في فهمهم لقضية الالتزام في الشعر الإسلامي وظنوا أن الخروج عن التعبير المباشر يمس قناعاتهم العقدية، لذا جاء الالتزام عندهم التزاماً بقضايا الإسلام والمسلمين لا يتعداه إلى سواه. وجاء جل الشعر الإسلامي المعاصر في أسلوب مباشر اهتماماً بالمضمون وإهمالا للشكل، وانتقاءً للألفاظ، ولم تخرج موضوعاته عن الدعوة والإرشاد، والتعبير عن قضايا الأمة والبكاء على أمجادها الغابرة، والدعوة إلى الجهاد وبث الكراهية للغربيين واليهود، وخلا هذا الشعر أو كاد، من غرضي الغزل ووصف الطبيعة، مع غياب الصور الرائعة الموحية. ومجمل القول إن هذا الشعر الإسلامي المعاصر لا يرقى إلى ما ينادي به منظرو الأدب الإسلامي لتكبله بالتكلف والتصنع والجمود والتأخر.
