المستخلص: This research paper compares between the views of some Arab intellectuals on Secularism. Some believe that secularism is the undermining of the foundations of the concept of a religious state, therefore, separating religion from the state. Another view is that secularism does not only separate religion from the state but it also banishes all ethical, religious and human values. However, compromisers tried to find some seeds for secularism in the Islamic and Christian history. In the dispute of secularism with religion, there is always the fear that secularism may become a totalitarian regime, excluding everything having a religious nature.
