المستخلص: This study is distinctively restricted to the form of the one-act play in investigating some selective dramatic elements as in Eugene O'Neill's "The Rope"(1918). It aims to simplify studying and reading one- act plays as well as to introduce a comprehensive view of such type of literature. This study hypothesizes that certain elements such as characterization, plot, language and dialogue are qualified to give an easy and comprehensive understanding of "one- act play". It also shows the character simply and how the plot minimizes the situations in the course of the play. The language is highly suggestive and the dialogue is concentrated and shortened the extension of the event. It is divided into five sections, each analyzing a dramatic element. Finally, the study has reached some conclusions that verify the hypothesis of the study.
