المستخلص: يسعى هذا البحث إلى تحليل التوزيع الجغرافي لمراكز الدفاع المدني في محافظة معان، ويهدف إلى دراسة مستوى الأهمية المكانية لتلك المراكز، تبعاً لحجم المتغيرات الجغرافية بمجالها المكاني؛ لتكون المحصلة النهائية تحديد مستويات الخدمة لمراكز الدفاع المدني سعياً لوضع تصور مستقبلي يحقق الكفاية المناسبة، بالإضافة إلى تعرف نمط التوزيع المكاني لمراكز الدفاع المدني، واعتمد في هذا البحث على المنهج الوصفي فضلاً عن المنهج (الاستقرائي التحليلي)، كما اعتمد البحث لتحقيق ذلك على البيانات المتوافرة لدى المؤسسات الحكومية، بالإضافة إلى الدراسة الميدانية التي استخدم فيها نظام تحديد المواقع العالمي؛ توخياً للدقة في تحديد مواقع مراكز الدفاع المدني، وتوصلت الدراسة إلى عدم توافق التوزيع الحالي لمراكز الدفاع المدني مع توزيع المتغيرات الجغرافية؛ من مثل مساحة الأقسام الإدارية بالمحافظة، وتوزيع السكان وكثافتهم، وخصائص شبكة الطرق، واستخدام الأرض وكثافة كل من المباني السكنية والمنشآت التعليمية والصحية؛ مما يظهر في النهاية أهمية توزيع مراكز الدفاع المدني المكانية؛ الذي تسبب في تباين مستوى الخدمة المقدمة.

This research aims to investigate the geographical distribution of Jordan Civil Defense centers in Ma’an governorate. It also seeks to study the level of spatial importance of the centers according to the size of geographic variables in their own spatial field, where the final outcome is to recognize the current service levels in these centers in order to set out a clear future vision that would ensure efficiency and sufficiency in addition to identifying the patterns of the spatial distribution of these centers. The descriptive approach and the curriculum (analytical inductive) were used in this research to achieve its objectives. The research project also made use of the data obtained from the governmental institutions and the field study in which the GPS was used in an effort to achieve accuracy in locating the sites of civil defence centers. The study found that there was no correspondence between the current distribution of the centers and that of the geographic variables, such as the land space of the administrative departments in the city, the distribution and density of the population, the characteristics of road network, the images of land use, and the density of each of the residential buildings, educational and medical facilities, which ultimately indicate the importance of the spatial distribution of these centers that led to discrepancy in the standard of services provided. Improving the current standards of service requires expediting the process of creating a geographic database closely linked with Jordan’s Civil Defense Centers.
