المستخلص: This study aimed at identifying the role, of the university administration to reduce student violence in public universities in the provinces of southern Jordan, and formulate annronriate recommendations. The population of the study was all the deans, vice deans, department heads, members of commissions of inquiry and disciplinary boards. in public universities in the provinces of South Jordan (University of Mutah. and the Technical University. the University of. AI-Hussein Bin Talal) who are the rank of lecturer, and Professor, and Associate Professor, Assistant Professor working in the first semester of the academic year 2009 / 2010 and numbered (230) members. The sample consisted of (182) faculty members. To achieve the objective of the study, the researchers develop an instrument consisted of (42) items related to the three areas of violence (physical violence, verbal and non-verbal, and attacks on property. The proper measures of validity and reliability were conducted. The findings of the study showed that the areas of violence was moderately and the following order of verbal violence and non-verbal in the first place, followed by attacks on property and finally came of physical violence, the perceptions of the university management, commissions of inquiry and disciplinary boards to reduce the phenomenon of violence among students was a medium degree. Also, the results indicated that there were significant differences in the role of the university administration and commissions of inquiry and disciplinary boards to the reduction of violence among students due to the variable of college faculties and in favor of humanity colleges, while there were no statistical differences attributable to academic rank, academic experience and job title. The findings also showed was no statistical significant relationship between the role of the committees and the degree of violence and the fields of the three verbal and non-verbal, and attacks on property, and physical violence.

هدفت الدراسة التعرف على دور الإدارة الجامعة في الحد من العنف الطلابي في الجامعات الحكومية في محافظات جنوب الأردن. تكون مجتمع الدراسة من جميع عمداء الكليات، ونواب العمداء، ورؤساء الأقسام، وأعضاء لجان التحقيق والمجالس التأديبية، في الجامعات الحكومية في محافظة جنوب الأردن (جامعة مؤتة، وجامعة الطفيلة التقنية، وجامعة الحسين بن طلال)، ممن هم برتبة أستاذ، وأستاذ مشارك، وأستاذ مساعد، ومحاضر العاملين في الفصل الأول من العام الجامعي 2009/ 2010 وبلغ عددهم (230) عضواً. تكونت عينة الدراسة من 182 عضواً. ولتحقيق هدف الدراسة طور الباحثان استبانة مكونة (42) فقرة، وقد تم التحقق من صدقها وثباتها. وخلصت الدراسة إلى النتائج التالية: أن مجالات العنف جاءت بدرجة متوسطة وعلى الترتيب التالي العنف اللفظي وغير اللفظي في المرتبة الأولى تلاه الاعتداء على الممتلكات وأخيراً جاء العنف الجسدي. وإن تصورات الإدارة الجامعية ولجان التحقيق والمجالس التأديبية في الحد من ظاهرة العنف بين الطلاب جاءت بدرجة متوسطة. كما توصلت الدراسة إلى وجود فرق ذات دلالة إحصائية في دور الإدارة الجامعية ولجان التحقيق والمجالس التأديبية في الحد من ظاهرة العنف بين الطلاب تعزى لمتغير الكلية ولصالح الكليات الإنسانية، في حين لوحظ عدم وجود فروق تعزى لمتغيرات الخبرة الأكاديمية والرتبة الأكاديمية والمسمى الوظيفي. وأشارت النتائج أيضاً إلى وجود علاقة سلبية ضعيفة وغير دالة إحصائياً بين دور اللجان ودرجة ممارسة العنف ومجالاته الثلاثة العنف اللفظي وغير اللفظي، والاعتداء على الممتلكات، والعنف الجسدي.
