|a ارتبط النحو العربي بفكرة التعليل منذ بداياته الأولى، وقد كان للعلوم الدينية والفلسفية أثرها الواضح فيه، وتجلي أكثر في القرن الرابع الهجري حين امتزج النحو بهذه العلوم، وتشبثت بفكرة العلية القائمة على أن لكل معلول علة، وحرص علماء اللغة والنحاة على إيجاد تعليلات فلسفية ومنطقية لكل أبواب النحو وقواعده، فعللوا بذلك الظواهر اللغوية كلها والتمسوا لها الأسباب والتأويلات حتى تستجيب للقواعد التي وضعوها، ولا تتعارض مع كلام العرب، إلى أن أضحت قطعة أساسية فيه.
