المستخلص: دعت الحاجة الاجتماعية إلى أن يكون لكل شيء اسم دال عليه، فهو عنوان المسمى الذي يتميز به عن غيره، يختزل المعاني والأوصاف، ويرتبط بواقع الحياة ارتباطا وثيقا فيضيء لنا عالما مجهولا من البيئات المختلفة لنحظى بمعرفة تاريخ الأمم والشعوب والمجتمعات وتطورها، ويعكس طبيعة العادات والمعتقدات واللهجات، والقيم فيها، فيؤثر ويتأثر بما يحدث له من تطورات اجتماعية وثقافية وسياسية، إذ تخضع الأسماء لمبدأ الثبات والتغير والشيوع والاندثار نتيجة لهذا، ويؤثر في شخصية حامله وعلاقاته الاجتماعية، ويوجه سلوك الفرد في مجتمعه وتعامله مع ما يحيط به. ويعرض البحث أسماء الإناث في منطقة عسير الواقعة في وسط الجزء الجنوبي الغربي من المملكة العربية السعودية، والعلاقة بين الاسم والثقافة المحلية العسيرية في اختيارها، وبواعث التسمية به في المنطقة، لمعرفة التأثير البيئي، والاجتماعي، والثقافي عليها، فتبرز معها خصائص المجتمع العسيري في التسمية، كون الاسم وسيلة من وسائل كشف تأثير المجتمع على سكانه وتأثره بغيره.
وتأتي أهمية الدراسة في تناولها لقضايا متعددة في منطقة عسير، فتبحث في العلاقة بين الأسماء والثقافة المحلية العسيرية في اختيارها، وتبين البواعث العسيرية التي تدعو إلى التسمية وطبيعتها، فهذه الدراسة تتعامل مع الأسماء كجزء من نظام اجتماعي متغير بفعل الزمان والمكان والمؤثرات الخارجية.

There is a social need for everything to have a significant name. It is the title of that particular thing that distinguishes it from the other, which reduces meanings and descriptions, and is closely linked to the reality of life and highlight for us an unknown world of different environments to gain knowledge of the history and development of nations, peoples, and societies. It reflects the nature of customs, beliefs, and dialects, and their values, influencing and being influenced by social, cultural, and political developments. Names are subject to the principle of persistence, change, prevalence and extinction as a result of this, affect the personality and social relations of the bearer, and guide the behavior of an individual in his or her community and his dealings with his surroundings. The research presents the names of females in the region of Aseer Province in the center of the southwestern part of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the relationship between the name and the local culture of Aseer in the selection of the name, and the reasons for naming it in the region, to know the environmental, social, and cultural impact. The characteristics of the Aseer community stand out in the naming since the name is one of the means of exposing the influence of society on its people and its impact on others.
The importance of the study lies in dealing with various issues in the Aseer region, examining the relationship between names and local culture of Aseer in their selection, and identify the motivations of Aseer for calling for the naming and its nature. This study deals with names as part of a social system changed by time, space and external influences.
