أضحت المنشآت الصناعية المتوسطة القوة المؤثرة في الدول المتقدمة والدول النامية، وذلك لأنها تسهم في زيادة النمو الاقتصادي لذلك البلد، فضلاً عن توفير فرص العمل للسكان وتحسن المستويات المعيشة وقد اخترت هذه الدراسة "المنشات الصناعية المتوسطة وأهميتها في محافظة بابل" كون هذا القطاع يساهم في تحسين دخل الفرد وخلق فرص عمل، ومن الجدير بالذكر ضرورة الربط بين الأنشطة الصناعية الأخرى، وتشمل هذه الدراسة على مشكلة الدراسة الرئيسية، الفرضية، والمدة الزمنية والقيود المكانية للدراسة التي تضم البعد المكاني موقع محافظة بابل، بين دائرتي عرض (-23.6- -33.8) شمالاً وبين خطي طول (-43.57- -45.12) شرقا وهي مقسمه إداريا إلى (16) وحدة إدارية، وتبلغ مساحتها (5119) كم 2وفي حدود الزمان جرت الدراسة ما بين عامي 2012 -2013 وتناولت هيكلية الدراسة ثلاثة مباحث تضمن المبحث الأول مفهوم المنشآت الصناعية المتوسطة وأهميتها وتصنيفها، بينما تناول المبحث الثاني المنشآت الصناعية المتوسطة من حيث مكانتها وبنيه لعامي 2012-2013 جاء المبحث الثالث ليسلط الضوء على التوزيع المكاني للمنشآت الصناعية المتوسطة بمحافظة بابل، حيث اتضح لنا أن أغلب هذه المنشآت تتواجد في منطقة الحي الصناعي بمدنية الحلة بسبب توفر أغلب المستلزمات الضرورية من تسهيلات النقل والماء والأرض والمواد الأولية والأيدي العاملة، ومن أهم مقترحات البحث وضع إجراءات لغرض تطوير هذه المنشآت الصناعية بتمويل المستثمرين وتأهيل العاملين وتدربيهم، ومنع السلع المنافسة للصناعة المحلية في الأسواق وتخلص الدراسة إلى نتائج وتوصيات .
