|b The study of the humanity personality is considered as one of the most important subjects that lead to understand the human behavior and realizing its motivations. The human motivation is firmly associated with the person behavior, the matter which gives it a great importance among subjects of psychology; therefore, many of the human behaviors can be interpreted within the light of the person’s motivation. Moreover, the man's performance and orientation to conduct specific behaviors is bound to the type of motivation the person has. The interest to study the personality disorder has recently increased due to its extensive effects upon the man's personality, his relationships with the surrounding acquaintances, his school or professional performance, and his social relationships. In this regards, Deerskin (1995) refers to the Personality Disorders as the basis for most of the problems from which we suffer or hear about in our daily life. One of the Personality Disorders which was included in the Fourth Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (1994) for the Psychological and Mental Disorders of the American Psychiatric Association (A.P.A.) is the Avoidant Personality Disorder. This disorder in personality is characterized by continuous and wide feelings of tension, uneasiness, and familiarity with intensive self-awareness; and feelings of being unsafe and snubbed, permanent endeavor to like and accept others, excessive sensitivity towards rejection and criticism, rejection to be involved in any relationships and personal links only after having affirmative guarantees of unconditional acceptance by criticism, very limited personal connections, and permanent readiness for exaggeration in ideas that he could face which causes him to avoid exercising many activities. According to what have already been mentioned, it is clear for us the effects of this disorder and its reflection over the infected persons. Therefore, it becomes obvious the importance of the research in this field and the urgent need to study it. What increases the importance of this research is its study by the university students. The university youths are the selected category because they play a basic role in the life of community and they are a tool of contribution to improve it from the psychological, educational, and economic point of views. Those youths will be shouldering responsibilities of important leading positions within the community in the future, and their personalities and performances will have their reflections on the surrounding acquaintances and on their community. The current research aims to determine: 1. The level of avoidant personality disorder at the specimen as a whole. 2. The percentage of spreading the avoidant personality disorder among the university students. 3. Indications of differences in the avoidant personality disorder among the university students according to the gender variation. 4. The level of school achievement motivation according to the gender variation. 5. The nature of relation between the avoidant personality disorder and the school achievement motivation for the university students. The existing research has been limited to the students of Salahaddin University/Erbil from both sex and in specific from students of the fourth-year classes who represent the period of early rationality within the morning shift study for the school year of (2012-2013). The female researcher selected the specimen by the cluster random method. It was composed of (1814) male and female students from the fourth-year classes among (6) collages in Salahaddin University/ Erbil so as to form the community for the research. As for the basic sample of the research, it was composed of (544) male and female students divided into (250) male students and (294) female students. In order to achieve goals of the current research, the female researcher built a scale for the avoidant personality disorder, which determined 7 fields based on the features (symptoms) of this disorder. Then (7) items have been formulated for each field which means that the scale is made of (49) items in its initial design. In its content, the answer was (Yes, No); and after analyzing the items by the two extreme groups and the relation of the item degree to the total degree in the scale, the items of the scale remained as they were and all the items had statistical functions in accordance with the scale set by 'Ebell". This scale has indications on truth of content and building and it has an immutability of (0.79) by the re-testing method. The researcher adopted the scale of (Alsalem: 2000) to measure the school motivation which was modified by (Al-I’nizi: 2001) that consisted of (42) items. The researcher amended the scale to cope with the requirements of the current research samples in our community. In its final form, the scale was formed of (40) items whereby its credibility was verified by the method of the apparent honesty and its immutability by the re-testing method, which came to (0.96). The results indicated to: The percentage of spreading the avoidant personality disorder among the students of Salahaddin University/Erbil has been (38%) which is a very high percentage in comparison with the global statistics. The relation between the avoidant personality order and the school achievement motivation has been of no moral function. The researcher explained these results in accordance with specifications and nature of the Kurdish society. She has introduced several of recommendations, which could reduce the risk of getting infected with the avoidant personality disorder, as well as other recommendations that could assist in preparing future researches
