The location of Mosul has been very important in the history of the city because it has made it a commercial and cultural center, since its establishment so far, it is like Baghdad, Basra, Aleppo and Damascus is located on the famous Silk Road, both land and sea, has flourished as Baghdad in ancient times, and suffered from the devastation of all cities Middle East after the fall of the Abbasid state in 1258. The author focused on the conditions of the city of Mosul during the Ottoman period between 1534 and 1918. He visited dozens of travelers from Ravelf, who traveled to the city in 1556, Tavarnier 1791, Jackson 1797, Niraza Abu Talib 1864, 1889 and Wickram 1898, Major Sun 1909, and others, the travelers in their memoirs and observations have left us a lot of public and personal impressions telling us about the conditions of the city of Mosul and its countryside. Dr. Suhail Qasha studied the city of Mosul in terms of administrative, cultural, social and economic aspects during this period of the ancient history of Mosul through the translated or non-translated memoirs. The author of the book was able to view these memoirs and based on more than 20 travelers who visited Iraq And visited the city of Mosul in close or spaced intervals, it is a fascinating book about this ancient city in which the author dealt with all large and small scientific sense.
