تدور هذه الدراسة حول السيرة الذاتية للدكتور إحسان عباس "غربة الراعي"، حيث تحدث عن طفولته، وأسرته، ودراسته، وزواجه، وعمله...، وتركز على جزئية محدودة وهي العلاقة بين الفرد والجماعة من ناحية، وبين الأدب والتاريخ من ناحية أخرى. وبخاصة أن الكاتب فلسطيني عاش النكبة شاباً وشيخاً، ثم انتقل إلى المنفى في العواصم العربية كالخرطوم، وبيروت، وعمان. فكان مثالا حيا لحياة الشعب الفلسطيني الذي هُجر من أرضه، واضطر إلى حياة الاغتراب، حاله في ذلك حال الرعاة الذين يضربون في الأرض غرباء، وظل الإحساس بالغربة يرافقه حتى آخر العمر، مع نزعة رومانسية حزينة تُظللها فلسفة متشائمة، تتلخص في أن الحياة قاسية، وأن التفاؤل فيها شكل من أشكال الخداع. وكانت هذه المشاعر طبيعية، لأن حلم الكاتب بالعودة إلى وطنه لم يتحقق.
This study deals with Dr. Ihsan Abas’s autobiography titled “The Alien¬ation of the Shepherd”. The author handles his childhood, his family, his education, his marriage and his job. The study focuses specifically on the relationship between the author as an individual and the group on the one hand, and literature and history on the other hand. The Author was experi¬encing the period of Palestinians catastrophe (Al-Nakba) and its aftermath as a young and an old man, that is, during his movement in exile in the Arab capitals such as Khartum, Beirut and Amman. His life exemplifies the miserable life of Palestinians, whose homeland was usurped and who was forced to leave his country and live in exile, i.e. similar to the alienated shepherds who keep moving from one place to another. Such alienation which is a characteristic of all Palestinians was therefore accompanied by a sad romantic touch mixed with a pessimistic philosophy which reflects the hard and tough life in which optimism has turned into a form of deception. These feelings were natural because the dream of going back home has never been realized.
