طرح الملك حسين لدى افتتاحه الدورة السابعة عشر للمجلس الوطني الفلسطيني المنعقدة في عمان في 22 تشرين الثاني! نوفمبر 1984 الخطوط العريضة لمبادرة أردنية -فلسطينية مشتركة مبنية على قرار 242 كأساس للتسوية، وعلى مبدأ الأرض مقابل السلام، في إطار مؤتمر دولي تحت إشراف الأمم المتحدة. وقد جرت مباحثات أردنية -فلسطينية مشتركة تم في ختامها إقرار الاتفاق الأردني -الفلسطيني في 11 شباط / فبراير 1985، وعكس هذا الاتفاق تحسن العلاقة بين م.ت.ف والأردن، والتي شابها التوتر الحاد معظم فترة السبعينيات. كما عكس استجابة أكثر من م. ت.ف للتعامل مع الضغوط الدولية (الأمريكية والإسرائيلية) التي تفضل التعامل مع قضية فلسطين من خلال البوابة الأردنية، فضلا عن تراجع م.ت.ف عن إصرارها على إقامة الدولة الفلسطينية المستقلة. وعلى أي حال، فلم يكتب لهذا المشروع النجاح إذ لقي معارضة فلسطينية داخلية من بعض الفصائل . وقام الملك حسين بإيقاف المشروع في شباط / فبراير 1986م .
At the start of the 17th course of the palestini an national council, The king Hussein tallced about the high linas of cooperated Palestinian-Jordanian initiative construclot on 242 soluion as a base of equality, under the peace against the land principle which happened in an international conference under the supervision of United Nations. Then acooperated Palestinian-Jordanian negotiations happened and in it's conclusion, the Palestinian-Jordanian agrement has been occepted on the 11th –february-1985, and this agreement showed improvement of the relation ship between Palestinian liberty organization and Jordanian Kingdom which be highly unrelaxed in the most of 70's period. It also showed more response from the palestinian liberty organization to deal with the internaional pressure (especialy American and Israeli pressure) which prefer to deal with the Palestinian issue through the Jordanian Kingdom, and also the reverse of the Palestinian liberty organizathon's insist to construct undependent Palestinian country, but this project agreement fail becauise some Palestinian internal group's (instituaions) has refused it. The King Hussein stopped this project in the 19th- february-1986.
