This paper attempts to analyze and describe the conttibutions of Islam in Indonesia especially in the field of language. As well known the contribution accured when the Indosesian language was known as Malay language. The contribution of Islam can be seen in three aspects, ( 1) there were many books in Islam written in Arabic, nearly 500 titles. (2) there were many Arabic Words influenced into Indonesian language. (3) the use of Arabic script to write Malay language. The scipts well known as a Jawi Script used from the fisrt year of the XIII Century to the first year of the XX Century. Jawi scripts used officially in Indonesia but in the year of 1901 replaced with the Latin Script by the Government. |
