المستخلص: Natural polymer sodium alginate has been used as matrix for immobilization of biological materials by entrapment technique. Various equipment for immobilization of biological materials in beads form have been used. A simple equipment for alginate-beads formation has been designed in our laboratory. This equipment is novel, simple in its design, inexpensive and effective in alginate beads formation and capable of working with large (up to 1000 mL) volumes of liquid alginate containing biosorbent of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The alginate beads are easily obtained and homogeneous in size and shape. The simplicity of this equipment allows it to be used in biosorption technology.
