المستخلص: The study aims at clarifying the compatibility between the Jordanian Legislation and the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) from a Legal and Sociological approach. In addition, this study analyzes the real situation of women in the Jordanian legislation system, the situation of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan with CEDAW, and finally observes the most important obstacles that prevent the complete acceptance of the agreement, by studying the various discourses on this Agreement from a feminist perspective. The study relies on a descriptive analytical method using content analysis and profound interviews with a number of leaders, politicians, judges, congressmen, lawyers, and civil society activists from both sexes. The study concluded that the laws and regulations of Jordan are not discriminatory in their entirety, but there is a lack of harmonization between rights on a legislative level and their implementation on the ground, it also showed that different visions, orientations and references is the reason behind the different discourses concerning CEDAW. The study also found that the most important obstacles that face the complete acceptance of CEDAW were related to values, norms and traditions of the Jordanian society. Finally, the study concluded that social changes cannot happen solely by changing the Laws and legislations without the support of the rest of the systems.
