| 520 | |b The museums represent a cross section of the Egyptian cultural values and contribute a great deal to attract visitors internationally and domestically. They are also used as a tool of educating the public through various activities. Since 1994 an increasing number of Egyptian museums have been connected to the Internet and are becoming members of the global marketplace. However, there are many museums that lack the tools and expertise to participate in the digital revolution. The objective of this exploratory research is to investigate the acceptance of modern features and new technology, specifically the Internet, by Egyptian museums. The theoretical framework highlights the essential features for e-museum. In order to achieve the objective of this research; a sample of Egyptian museums websites was selected. Therefore, an analysis was conducted to test these features and provide a deeper understanding of the real situation of these services and its effect on the Egyptian e-museums performance. The results indicate that acceptance of new technology by the Egyptian museums was very slow regarding to the advances of technologies. Despite the development of e-museums and digital heritage technology; many barriers occur including lack of using internet between the Egyptian museums which hinder further development for existing websites. In addition, there are a number of technical limitations in relation to using museums services. | ||
