Infection of Anisakid Nematode Larvae in Some Marine Fishes from the Libyan Coast

المستخلص: A total of 513 fishes belonging to five different fish species were examined for presence of different types of parasites during the period from August 2017 till the end of July 2018 on Libyan coast. Examination of the fish specimens infestation parasitic Nematoda. When categorized according to species of fish, Herring fish (Saurida undoquamis) was the most susceptible to parasitic infection with a total infection rate of 81.90%. This was followed by (Scomber japonicas) with an infection rate of 79.00%, then the (Merluccius merluccius) at the infection rate of 66.66%, (Boops boops) 64.44% and finally the (Trachurus trachurus) was the least susceptible to parasites with the lowest infection rate of 56.36%. Susceptible to Nematode infection. Two species of Anisakids larvae was detected during the present study. Anisakis simplex Larvae and Hysterothylacium sp. larvae, the total prevalence of third stage larvae of Anisakis simplex and Hysterothylacium sp. Was (69.29%) and (30.72 %), respectively Females showed higher prevalence than males. The number of infected fish varied according to weight, without significant difference between prevalence and seasons.
