The relation between psychology and literature is a bilateral relation. Man’s soul makes literature and literature nourishes man’s soul. Man’s psychical receptions take into consideration the human and natural life perspectives and provide references to literary works. On the other hand, literature also takes into account life’s truths to make clear the perspectives of human soul. Both pay attention to fancy, thoughts, feelings, sensations and psychical issues. Psychological analysis has altered our way of understanding the literary phenomenon. Stream of consciousness technique evolved through Sigmund Freud and Jung who were born on May 6, 1856 and July 26, 1875 respectively and their theories affected literature thereafter. But great literary writers adopted penetrating psychic gaze even before these trend setters. The interior monologues the soliloquies, depict the multitudinous thoughts and feelings which pass through the mind. They are also known as single talk or self talk revealing what has been done or is going to be done i.e. ideas passing in the mind of the character in a drama, poem or novel. The paper is an attempt to analyses psychological aspects through excerpts from diverse sources.
