The objective of this study is to verify the hypothesis of knowledge bases involved in an arbitration decision-making task in computer-simulated dynamic handball game situations among experienced (experts and competent) and novice (players and trainees) subjects, using the expert-novice paradigm, in an attempt to situate the level of player expertise relative to the level of arbitration expertise. The performance of four groups of subjects was compared: three groups of referees at three different levels (wilaya, regional, and federal) classified as Novice Referees (AN), Competent Referees (AC), and Expert Referees (AE), and a group of 12 expert handball players (JE) who have been playing handball for over ten years. During the test, the subject's task was to answer "good" for "Decision Relevance" (PD) at the end of the game situation sequence, indicating whether a foul occurred or not, while justifying their decision (JD) and the type of sanction administered for "Sanction Relevance" (PS) as a consequence. The results show the effectiveness of mnemonic processes involved in arbitration decision-making and the effect of knowledge structuring in long-term memory acquired both explicitly by (AC) and implicitly by (JE).
