يستمد المصمم أفكار تصميماته من مصادر كثيرة يعتبرها منابع لإلهامه، وهذه المنابع محيطة به تمده بالتصميمات المبتكرة، وأحيانا يأخذ المصمم شيئا صغيرا من المصدر في تصميمه وأحيانا أخرى يأخذ الشكل الخارجي، وذلك طبقا للإيحاء الذي يعطيه له المصدر في تلك اللحظة، ويمر المصمم في هذه اللحظات بالإلهام والتخيل. حيث نجد أن الزي التاريخي من أهم العوامل المؤثرة علي مصمم الأزياء فهو مصدر هام للإلهام لدى مصممي الأزياء المعاصرين فلا يمكن أن نغفل عن كنزا به تصميمات مبتكرة، وبدون الرجوع إلى هذه الكنوز فكيف يمكننا معرفه ما هو أصيل؟ وكثيرا ما يستوحى المصممون العالميون اليوم الشكل الخارجي لتصميماتهم والخطوط الداخلية للزي من تصميمات نفذت على مر العصور، ويرجع المصمم إلى هذه المراجع من الكتب التاريخية والمتاحف(1)، وليست كل الفترات التاريخية متساوية في خصوبة المنابع لخلق تصميمات جديدة، ولكن هناك المصمم المبتكر الذي لا يجد في القديم فكرة يستوحى منها تصميماته فإنه يبتكرها(2) ويتناول البحث المحاور الأتية: ١ -دراسة تاريخيه للأزياء وخاصة الجاكيت الحريمي. ٢-تطوير تصميم الجاكيت الحريمي من خلال أعمال الفنان الإيطالي كابوجروسي. ٣-الجانب التطبيقي لتصميمات الجاكيت المطبوعة والمنفذة.
