المستخلص: It is narrated from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) that he said: “Whoever wrote the historical events of a believer it would be as if he saved him, and whoever read his history it would be as if he visited him, and whoever visited him will surely have the mercy of Allah upon him, and it is right of the visitor that he be honored by the one he is visiting.” Believing in the sanctity of these words and the appeal to introduce the noble personalities of our nation and to understand their good qualities and remarkable achievements, we ought to introduce our honorable reader to one of Algeria's most precious stars, who shone in the eighth century Hijri. He experienced the political, cultural and literary transformations of his period with the kings of Bani al-Ahmar in Granada and Beni Merien in the opposite enemy. He got to know the conditions of the Eastern countries through his journeys of its urban centers and getting in contact with the intellect, politics and literature of the era. So who is this noble personality? What are the factors of his nobility? What are his literary and political contributions in the East and the West? We try to understand this exemplary character by writing his life story and understating his achievements.

ورد في الأثر عن سيد البشر عليه الصلاة والسلام ، أنه قال: من أرخ مؤمنا فكأنما أحياه ومن قرأ تاريخه فكأنما زاره، ومن زاره استوجب رضوان الله وحق على المزور أن يكرم زائره)1، إيمانا منا بقدسية القول وأحقيته في التعريف بأعلام أمتنا والوقوف على خلالهم الحميدة ومآثرهم الجليلة، ارتأينا تعريف القارئ الكريم بأحد أفذاذ الجزائر الذي لمع نجمه في القرن الثامن الهجري، عايش تحولاته السياسية والثقافية والأدبية مع ملوك بني الأحمر في غرناطة وبني مرين في العدوة المقابلة، واطلع على أحوال البلدان المشرقية من خلال تطوافه في حواضرها محتكا بجهابذة الفكر والسياسة والأدب.
فمن هو هذا العلم؟ وما هي عوامل نبوغه؟ وما هي إسهاماته الأدبية والسياسية مغربا ومشرقا؟ نحاول التعرف على هذه الشخصية الفذة من خلال الترجمة لها والوقوف على مآثرها.
