|b This research deals with the Following points: * The position of Islam, through the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah, on alphabetical illiteracy i.e (disability of reading and writing) and digital or numerical illiteracy is that it rejects them completely for their dangerous consequences such as religious illiteracy, stagnation, underdevelopment, delay of work, production and development in various areas at the level of individuals , groups and the state. * Islam in return requires the eradication of alphabetical illiteracy in order to avoid it's dangers and achieve flexibility and broad - mindedness of those whose illiteracy is eradicated. Hence, they achieve progress in their own manual work with both quantity and quality. This, in turn, contributes to increase in production and` development in the agricultural, commercial and industrial fields etc. The research linked illiteracy and literacy with human development through highlighting the relationship between them. The rate of development decreases in various agricultural, commercial and industrial fields with literacy and increases with literacy, as there is a difference between a worker who reads and writes and one who doesn't. The first is broad-minded and clever at his craft to the extent of perfection with both quantity and quality. But the second is narrow-minded in a negative way that affects his craft with both quantity and quality. * Quoting texts of the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah which support the importance of alphabetical literacy and explaining them in a scientific objective way from the reliable sources and references whether old or modern. In addition to the sufficiency of certain examples of these Quranic and Prophetic texts to avoid prolongation and at the same time meet the purpose. * The research has also dealt with this issue from an Islamic, cultural and Da'wa-related perspective through the obligation of assigning a fundamental role to the preachers of Islam in this national project. This can be achieved through their Da'wa means such as sermons, religious lessons, seminars and lectures as well as the mass media including television, radio and newspapers. By doing that, we find that their role is no less than the roles of other institutions in the state like the Ministry of Education, the National Authority for Literacy, Ministry of Local Development and others, for the following reasons: A- The preachers of Islam call for a religion that is based on knowledge, rejection of ignorance and fight against alphabetical illiteracy from the first day of revelation . Allah Almighty says in the first five verses of (Surat Al – 'Alaq) " Read : In the name of Thy Lord Who created * Created man from a clot * Read and thy Lord is the Most Bounteous * Who taught (writing) by the pen * Taught man that which he knew not ". They are also the heirs of the Messenger of Islam our master Muhammad (PBUH) who combated illiteracy and called for the obligation of eradicating it practically in the first battle of Islam, namely the great battle of Badr. He made the redemption of each captive of the polytheists, unable to pay ransom, is to teach ten boys of the Helpers how to read and write perfectly. B- When the call for literacy comes from a religious perspective, there will be a good turnout of the illiterate in fear of Divine punishment if they fail to respond to the call and hoping for reward if they respond. When there is a good turnout of the literate to combat their illiteracy, the rates of work, production and development double at the level of individuals, groups and the state. This, in turn, leads to an increase in the national income which positively affects the standard of living. However, if the call for literacy comes from a purely legal perspective, the turnout of the illiterate will be less, and they can circumvent the law in various ways which justify their failure to fight against their illiteracy. This will negatively affect work, production and development in both quantity and quality at all the levels. C - Most of the alphabetical illiterate are religiously illiterate, because the religious illiteracy often results from the alphabetical illiteracy. In fact, combating religious illiteracy of the alphabetically illiterate takes a lot of time and effort because they are narrow minded and have no means of knowledge except hearing and experience. But combating alphabetical illiteracy at first, helps the preachers to eradicate their religious illiteracy and saves a great deal of time and effort. This is not surprising because they have expanded their perceptions to understand the teachings of Islam due to the increase in their means of knowledge. They are now able to read and write after they had been confined to hearing and experience only. Their ability to read and write also helps them to eradicate their own religious illiteracy by reading about Islam in the subjects of faith, legislation and ethics. By doing so, they can worship Allah on a sound basis of knowledge, guidance and insight. D. The role of the preachers in this national project is represented in the following points: ■ Persuading the illiterate of the benefits of alphabetical literacy. ■ Warning the illiterate against the real dangers of alphabetical illiteracy, at the personal and developmental levels. ■ Encouraging the illiterate to combat their illiteracy by stating its positive aspects on the personal and developmental levels and citing texts of the Holy Qur'an and Sunnah as much as possible to support both the positive and negative aspects. Some of the steps that help the preachers to play their role in the best way are that: * The Ministry of Endowment and the Department of Preaching are offering training courses in which lectures are given by professors specialized in literacy and adult education from the faculties of Education and Literature. * Providing books that contain the dangers of illiteracy and the positive aspects of literacy. These books represents the best scientific provision for the preachers in their call. The relationship of alphabetical literacy to the human development is that: most of the alphabetical illiterate are manual workers. Combating their illiteracy widens their perception and improves their understanding. This, in turn, helps them to master their manual work in both quantity and quality more than ever before. Hence, the production is increased, development is achieved and the standard of living is improved not only at the level of the illiterate but also at the collective and the state levels and hence, increasing national income. So, the results of alphabetical literacy are: a- Eradication of religious literacy and worship of Allah on a sound basis of knowledge, guidance and insight. b- Reconstruction of the universe through hard work and its results of increase in production and development, is a fundamental Islamic goal sought by Islam. Allah Al-mighty says: " I have only created Jinns and men that they may worship Me" (Surat Al Dhariyat -verse 56). Allah also says: "Worship Allah: you have no other God but Him. It is He Who has produced you from the earth and settled you therein" (Surat Hud -verse 61). "Praise be to Allah"
